I am quite shocked to learn that so many people in the United Stated crate their dogs and that the HSUS promotes such animal cruelty.

People should just reflect on how Zoos across America have changed over the years. They went from small cages to open areas where animals can roam because it was both cruel and emotionally damaging to wild animals and yet the HSUS condones caging of pets for extended periods of time. Hmm? I wonder if there was a large contribution behind that decision. Perhaps they need to disclose their list of contributors and we may find the rationale for supporting such abusive behavior.

Naturally a dog lives in a pack, that means with a family and not being locked up in some small kennel as a convenience to the owner.

A puppy can NOT control it`s bladder and is being forced to dirty that crate and stay in its mess for hours. I find it absolutely disgusting and in my opinion, it is animal abuse cloaked under the idea that an animal feels safe and secure in a cramped space.

Anyone who is practicing something like that should be experiencing that themselves - hold your need to urinate all day and then you may change your mind about such lazy and abusive practices. It is all about responsibility and if you decide to buy a puppy you need to take the time to be home and be able to care for this puppy. Otherwise there is no need to have a dog.

If a puppy or for that matter an adult dog has experienced a safe/secure/caring environment, then there should be no problem leaving them in the house alone. Sorry, only mentally disturbed dogs chew up furniture, urinate in the house or run away.

I live in Europe and I do not know anyone who crates their dog. In fact, if someone would crate their animal, I would report him to the Human Society and it would be considered animal cruelty and that animal would be taken away from its owner.

This is absolutely incredible to me!

I would keep dogs and kids away from it for a few days just in case. Better safe than sorry and its only a day or two and then I'd say its fine.

I have to agree with cesar milan. I have irish wolfhounds, for 25 yrs, and red heelers, and i am the leader of the pack. I say what happens and who is in charge. When I get them they are pups and thats how theyre raised.I am the final word and they all love each other. Even my sister who adopted a 11 yr old jack russel, her dog has a place in my pack.

Dog and cat fur is still sold in the United States and other parts of the world and is marked as faux fur, as other species, and not labeled at all.
