Meet Oreo a Portuguese Water Dog currently available for adoption at! 4/19/2011 7:11:04

Hello, my name is Oreo. I am a beautiful middle aged Portuguese Water Dog. I have a very soft curly coat. I shed very little but still need to be brushed frequently to keep my hair free of tangles and looking magnificent. I love to play fetch with soft stuffed dog toys and will walk around with them in my mouth most of the time. I get along with other dogs but don’t necessarily enjoy playing with them. I do however enjoy playing and spending time with my people. I will follow them around the house and prefer not to be left out of family activities. In my previous home I was surgically “de-barked”. I do not have a typical dog bark now, it is more like a raspy cough. I will “bark” to get your attention, for anything I think I may need, or when I get excited. I have been learning though, when its appropriate to “bark” and when its not. I am also house trained and crate trained. Please come and visit me at the adoption center, I am ready to find my forever home. All OK Humane dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, up to date on boosters, have been dewormed, treated for fleas and ticks, have received a Rabies vaccination if they are old enough, microchipped and have tested negative for heartworms and been put on heartworm preventative. Please stop by our Adoption Center Tuesday through Saturday 11 AM – 7 PM, Sunday Noon – 5 PM @ 7500 N Western Avenue, 405-286-1229. *Please note that you may be viewing the animal’s picture upon intake to the adoption program.*

It is outrageous that it is legal to remove her vocal chords. She has trouble breathing now, and I hope the vet that did it, and the people that paid him to, all rot in Hell!! What a horrible thing! If you can’t deal with a dog barking, get rid of the dog – which is what they did anyway. The jerks kept her name, but mutilated her. We got her back though, and that is what is important! She used to sing, and now she can barely breathe!
