PLEASE HELP! Our 5 month old Boston Terrier poops in kennel, eats it, and still goes on floor… tips?

I’ve had many dogs growing up, but not a ‘poop eater’ quite like her. We rescued her through a rescue orginization that took her from a puppy mill. I know the causes of the defecating in the cage due to being in mill conditions.

However, we’ve had her 2 months now and she has improved in the house but not in the kennel at night or during the day. She has been recently spayed and treated for a number of things from the mill including Giardia, Ringworms, and Demodex. Any tips such as additives to put in her food to make it more solid or more likely to hold it?

Tips in general please help..

  1. Save the wolves. says:

Chunks of pineapple in the food is supposed to make a dog not want to eat its own poop. For a small dog, you could try a couple pieces and see if that works.

I’ve heard of people giving their pets pineapple. While they like the taste of it, it doesn’t taste too good "a second time around" if you catch my drift.

She will soon learn to not eat her poo, as it’ll taste nasty – as if it doesn’t already taste nasty!

  3. Sandy C says:

Try FORBID. It’s a powder (no taste)that you put on their food & it’s supposed to make their poop unappealing. Most pet stores carry it.

  4. TM says:

Mix pineapple in with your dogs food. It supposed to be effective at stopping them from eating their own poop. Also the dog may not be getting enough nutrition from the food it’s eating so try putting the dog on a higher quality diet like Wellness.
